Particle Analysis in Life Sciences Applications

Measuring cells, or particles, occurs millions of times every day as microbiologists and biologists perform laboratory and clinical research on diseases, treatments and potential cures. The growth in bio-pharmaceuticals and related bio-processes has created an even greater demand for cellular analysis equipment.

MFI can be used to measure cell counts, viability, apoptosis, morphology, cultures and other characteristics.

For biologists and microbiologists, the advantages of MFI are its flexibility for performing multiple tasks, the ease-of-use and simplicity, and the additional insights provided by cellular and particle images and morphology.

MFI measures particles and cells from 0.75 to 300µm.

Application Notes:

• Count and classify cell populations in the presence of contamination
• Assess whole versus compromised cells using morphology changes
• Run viability assays, including Trypan blue
• Study morphological change in cell populations
• Qualify and record the status of cultures and cryopreserved samples
• Count cell sub-populations not distinguishable by either manual microsopy or flow cytometry
